Yesterday, shortly after the Summer Games Fest talked about the fourth season of Call of Duty, the company removed their skins and bundles that had any relation to Nickmercs. This came after the Twitch streamer made a comment on an LGBTQ protest post.

This situation has caused heated discussion from all sides of the community, given whichever beliefs they have on the issue, many people going as far as throwing out their Call of Duty collections completely.

Nickmercs bundle removed from Call of Duty

Everything started with a retweet from @MLGPuckett, who stated that the protest attack between Anti-LGBT and Pro-LGBT happened 4 blocks from their Overwatch League apartment. The post that they retweeted was of the fighting happening outside a CA school board meeting where it was discussed and voted on by the school board to recognize June as Pride Month it reads.

Nickmercs replied to the retweet saying “They should leave little children alone. That’s the real issue.”

Looking at the comments of this tweet, people will mainly find a very long comment section where people are voicing that they will never support or play another Call of Duty game or that Nickmercs was entitled to his own opinion on the topic just like everyone else. Both sides were very vocal.

However, the situation became more heated after his comment.

Earlier yesterday, CharlieIntel put out a tweet stating they noticed that Activision had removed the Nickmercs bundle from both Warzone and Modern Warfare 2. At that time, the developers hadn’t stated anything on their own social media but instead responded to CharlieIntel’s tweet.

Call of Duty stated in response to CharlieIntel that they had removed the Nickmercs Operator bundle from both CoD games because they are focused on celebrating PRIDE with their employees and community.

Then, a tweet was posted by Dr. Disrespect, who is known as a popular gamer on various social platforms. Their tweet states the point of “Who’s running Call of Duty PR and Marketing now?” and even goes as far as to say it is “pathetic.”

As of right now, Call of Duty or Activision hasn’t put out a statement regarding the communities reaction or the situation but instead has remained quiet since yesterday. There could be a possible statement from them later today or the silence will continue. We will keep an eye on things to let you all know if it escalates further.
