Cyberpunk Patch 1.6 is expected to be the main feature of Night City Wire on September 6th. Night City Wire is CDProjekt’s regular web show that reveals updates on Cyberpunk 2077 and is scheduled to be broadcast at 8 AM PT, 11 AM ET, 4 PM BST and 5 PM CEST on the Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube channel.

While it’s unclear when the patch will release, we can take a decent, educated guess. The last update, version 1.5, was discussed in a live stream on Feb 15th, 2022. CDprojekt released the patch that very same day.

With that in mind, the Cyberpunk 2077 1.6 patch will likely release on September 6th after the live stream. There’s always a chance that it’ll be delayed, but with any luck, we should see more bug fixes soon enough.

There’s a huge disparity here between the PS5/PC versions of the update and the Xbox Series X version of the update, so make as much room as you need to.

In the description of the Instagram post that CDProjekt used to announce the Night City Wire, we came across some fresh details. It seems like there will be some content from the Cyberpunk anime making an appearance in the new update with some crossover missions.

It’s not clear if these new missions will be part of the update or part of any new DLC packs CDProjekt announced. We do know that studio Trigger’s involvement with the anime is sure to make it popular, so there’s a decent chance that these new missions will be well received by the community at large.

The Edgerunner update is going live later today. It’ll allow you to become an Edgerunner in new missions from the game. New weapons, new wardrobe and customization options and more will appear in the game later today.

1.6 will be the final major update for last-generation systems. There’s going to be a complete overhaul to the cop system and vehicle-to-vehicle combat in the future, but not in this update.

Cyberpunk 2077 Potential DLC

There has been a lot of talk about DLC being released for Cyberpunk 2077. So far, there’s been no official word about when or what to expect, but that hasn’t stopped fans from coming up with theories.

Even as far back as January 2022, fans on Reddit have been speculating about what the DLC will contain. Right now, the main fan theory is that 1.6 will be the big setup for the first major DLC release, though no one is sure what the DLC will include.

CDProjekt made it clear in the tweet that one of the subjects up for discussion will be ‘the future of Cyberpunk 2077,’ which many have taken as a sign that DLC will be a big topic of the presentation.

We now know, thanks to the recent Night City Wire, that the expansion will be a new cast of characters, expanding on a district in Night City. The expansion is titled Phantom Liberty and will be released next year only on next-generation consoles, PC, and Stadia.

Cyberpunk 2077 New DLC Fan Response

While many see the announcement as a good thing, it has also triggered some less favorable responses. Some users on Twitter found the mention of the upcoming Cyberpunk Anime to be a particular thorn in their side.

Story DLC when??? Honestly, after everything that’s happened with this game, the launch, controversies, one would think CDPR would focus on the game itself, fixing and adding story content to redeem it, rather than making spin-off animes.

The high level of frustration is understandable, with the game prompting controversy on its release. Many fans weren’t happy with the state of the game, and many are still unhappy with what they perceive as false advertising.

To this day, many features shown in trailers still aren’t in the game. While the 1.6 updates may fix some of that, to some, it’s too little, too late. Still, other players may be happy to get the game they’ve been waiting for.
