Diablo 4’s Server Slam beta is allowing players to try out multiple different classes in the new game from Blizzard. These classes offer combat in melee and spells to fully experience the open beta and the exploit weakness of new enemies.
This comprehensive guide is designed to provide you with an overview of the different classes available in the upcoming Server Slam Beta. We’ll also provide some tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your game experience.
The Server Slam Beta introduces five new classes to the Diablo 4 roster. We’ll start by taking a brief look at each of these five classes and their special abilities.
Diablo 4 classes
Diablo 4 has a total of five classes at launch. These are:
- Barbarian
- Druid
- Sorceress
- Rogue
- Necromancer
Let’s get into what you can expect from each of these characters and their gameplay.
Barbarian
What you see is what you get with the Barbarian, and if you’re familiar with older renditions of the Diablo franchise, or other action RPGs, you’ll know the score. They may not be the best class, but they’re the most well-known. They give a barrage of big, brutal attacks full of rage and a warrior’s strength.
Barbarian is largely focused on physical damage and aims for defense and blunt force, rather than incorporating any complex skills and strategies.
Used for heavy damage, the Barbarian is also somewhat a master of weapons, too. Being able to use a wide variety of weapons, they’re formidable at every angle. You can switch between one-handed weapons, two-handed weapons, blades, maces, and more.
Barbarian skills
These skills bring on additional effects instead of just basic attacks.
- Bash
- Flay
- Frenzy
- Lightning Strike
Druid
The Druid makes his return to Diablo 4 as the shapeshifting master, being able to switch into a Werewolf and Werebear at will. Just as it was for the ancient Celts, the Druids concerned themselves with prophecy and ritual.
Druid spells
Having the harness of storm magic and earth magic, the Druid is able to use skills to annihilate hordes of magic and keep effects on the battlefield as the magic it casts persists.
The Druid’s skills can all be cast in the various forms the class can turn into but they are locked to individual forms. So, you aren’t able to freely cast spells in any form, unlike in Diablo 2.
- Earthspike
- Shred
- Storm Strike
- Maul
- Wind Shear
Sorceress / Sorcerer
The Sorceress and sorcerer is a glass cannon of sorts, being that she’s an incredibly powerful elemental mage at the price of being fairly fragile. For Diablo 4, the spells are focused around Fire, Lightning, and Cold.
Sorceress / Sorcerer spells
Her abilities like Crackling Energy give the Lightning spells a ball of energy that is left behind on the battlefield after casting. This can be then collected to restore mana.
Cold spells can stack, meaning that more spells cast will mean eventually freezing an enemy. As for Fire spells, they will deal damage over time.
- Lightning
- We expect chain lightning to be a thing too.
- Fire Bolt
- Frost Bolt
- Arc Lash
Rogue
The Rogue is an assassin-type character who can switch up through multiple quick-draw weapons like bows, crossbows, daggers, swords, and more. The payoff is quick as it is deadly. Alternating between these various weapon categories makes for a highly versatile feel in battle.
Most players know Rogues as almost unlimited energy classes that can dual wield, this iteration of the subterfuge agent pays more homage to the rogues that came before.
Rogue Skills
We’ll update this as more time is spent with the rogue. However, we expect Rogues to have Shadow Step, some kind of agility based shadow realm poison attack, and fast melee attacks.
The Rogue’s speed is combined with many other aspects of previous versions of the Rogue including the original Rogue. There are also elements of the Amazon, Assassin, and Demon Hunter, all of which have high movement speed.
Necromancer
The Necromancer has an edge in that it’s a class built on various playstyles: Bone, Darkness, Blood, and the Army. These playstyles have different resources the Necromancer can utilise. Essence is a slowly regenerating resource gained by using basic skills. Corpses generate a variety of effects from fallen enemies.
They are able to use Scythes. But, in addition they can also use class-specific Necromancer items, as well as shields, daggers, wands, swords, and focuses.
And that covers what we know about all five of the launch Diablo 4 classes, we hope you found our Diablo 4 classes guide informative.
