Once again, The Legend of Zelda fans will be making their way to the land of Hyrule, equipped with Link’s new abilities, such as Fuse, Recall ability, Ultrahand ability, and Ascend ability; it will add a breath of fresh air to the game’s adventure. So, with all these new abilities, you must wonder if a new map will exist. This guide details whether The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will use the same map as Breath of the Wild.

Will The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have the same map as Breath of the Wild?

With The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom soon to be released on Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023, it’s not surprising many of the game’s fans want to know a bit more about the game. Particularly, based on the TOTK trailers, they want to know if the map will be the same as BOTW. To answer your question, yes, The Legend of Zelda; Tears of the Kingdom map will be similar to Breath of the Wild.

Will the events of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom take place after Breath of the Wild?

You must be wondering why this is. Well, as you know, the events of BOTW occur in the Kingdom of Hyrule. As such, the Tears of the Kingdo game is seen as a sequel to the Breath of the Wild game. According to Ask the Developer Vol. 9 on the official Nintendo site, producer Eiji Aonuma stated that he wanted to “make it possible for players to continue exploring the world.”

While the map will be similar to the prequel, that does not take away from the fact that there will be new gameplay, new enemies, and the latest feature are the sky islands. Though you may be slightly disappointed with the map, at least there will be familiar landmarks you use to speedrun the game. Of course, because this will be a sequel, there will be new place names and possibly a map of the sky!
