Corners represent one of the best chances for a team to score in EA Sports FC 24. They’re not a guarantee, as only about 4% of corners result in a goal. Still, it’s a chance for the offensive team to set up one of their practiced set pieces. They design these to result in goals, and they are a good way to try and score in FC 24, formerly known as FIFA. Here’s how to take them.

How do I take a corner in EA Sports FC 24?

To take a corner, you must first earn one. The only way to do this is by having the ball go out of bounds over the touch line. This happens when a defender kicks the ball out of the back of the pitch or when a goalkeeper saves it out of play. After that, teams can use their set pieces. You can also set your own custom tactics to try out here in training.

It’s always a good idea to choose the right player to take the corner. This needs to be someone good at passing. Ideally, they wouldn’t be too tall, either. Tall players are vital for winning headers on corner kicks. Look at someone’s curve, crossing, and passing attributes and pick a good player. Midfielders and forwards are most often the best for taking these plays.

Your team, whether you’re in the Premier League or MLS, will have its own set pieces. These will determine where the players are going to go in the box. It might have a player curling around another to get open for a header and it’s up to the kicker to put the ball where they can get it.

Check your team’s set pieces and see if there’s one you want to run. Otherwise, you can send the ball towards the final third of the field and wait for one of your players to get on the end of it. If you do, you should keep a few things in mind.

First, it’s a lot more difficult to pass the ball through players. It’s easier to go over them. Your corner kick needs to have some arc to get into the box and it needs to be high enough for a header unless the player is wide open and can volley it.

Keep this in mind when you’re angling your kick. Chip passes provide more height and they are easier for getting it over your opponent. A lob pass does stay in the air longer, so the defense can react. Find what works with your players and utilize that.

Once you’ve sent the ball into the air, it’s important to switch over to the other player. Unless you player lock in player career mode, you can switch and control them. When you do, you can control their shot. If it’s a header, you can aim it.

If they happen to have a volley or other shot, you can control that as well. EA FC players can make powerful shots, finesse shots, or even a chip shot if they want. They can do a fake shot and try to pass from there, too. This is a rarity off of a corner, but it can happen if a player is wide open. The first touch is important, so be sure to make the right decision quickly.

If you’re not interested in trying that type of corner, the alternative is a short corner. This is where another teammate comes in from the box to the sideline and you pass it to them. They can then set up a cross or regular passes to get in front of goal with possession of the ball. This allows for width, but they can start dribbling to wherever you want to set up an offensive play.

Most players, including the right back (RB), left back (LB), center back (CB), and midfielders, are up the pitch for a corner, so it’s almost all hands on deck.

Corners differ from penalties, which are when the defense slide tackles and commits a foul in the box. These tips will work for Ultimate Team, Career Mode and more in FC 24. Be sure to pick up a copy for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
