When you begin a new player career in EA Sports FC 24, you can choose any team you want. If you want to be a prodigy who begins their career on Manchester City of the Premier League, you can. You can also, for example, start on Charlotte FC in the MLS like we did. There are two ways to play, either by starting on a good team you intend to stay on, or by working your way up in a more true-to-life situation. If you do the latter, it’s important to know how to work your way up.

How do I get to a new team in EA Sports FC 24?

EA Sports FC 24 completely revamped the Career Mode from previous FIFA games. It is now split into Manager Career Mode and Player Career Mode. Please note that this guide is for the latter. You can change teams in Manager Mode, but it’s a different process.

When you start out on a new squad, you have to work your way into the starting lineup and grow your EA FC overall rating. Eventually, you will outgrow your starter team. You may start on FC Augsburg and quickly become the best player on that team. You would naturally want to move on at that point.

Unfortunately, there is no request transfer option anymore. You’re sort of tied to a team for a season, with a few exceptions. There is, however, a new player agent option that allows you to craft your career path.

With this, you can select a new team to go to at year’s end. Each team in each league has goals you’d need to meet to go there, and the goals are dependent on the contract you want. For us, we chose West Ham as our preferred destination and chose a $63,236 wage.

Not all teams are available this way, though. For example, in our playthrough, we could not set Manchester City as our desired location because they were not scouting in the lower leagues like the MLS. Other teams were, like West Ham and Brighton.

That meant that we needed to achieve the following throughout the MLS season to move on:

  • 8.1 average match rating
  • 42 goals
  • 66% of matches in the starting XI
  • 3 headed goals
  • 43 flair passes

At the end of the year, we can move to the desired team as long as we maintain the quality they want. If necessary, lowering the desired wage makes it easier to land on a team.

There is one alternative, and it’s to play your way out of the city. When you start, you’re a reserve. Eventually, you become a starter. You can go back to being a reserve, though. If you do, and you continue to not play well, the coach can put you on the transfer market.

At that point, if you do not fit the tactical vision of the team, whether it’s as a midfield player, goalkeeper, striker, or anything else, you can be moved to another team. This is not ideal as it involves playing poorly and putting yourself in low regard, but it is a way to get to a new club if you’re that desperate.

It can also tank your player development, since you won’t get as much XP. FC 24 is available now on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. Hop in now and try to win Ballon d’Or on any team and take down your opponent!
