Final Fantasy 16 is an action RPG with real-time combat. Devised by Square Enix, this game has you playing as Clive Rosfield, a strong soldier with the power of Ifrit. The story focuses on Clive’s journey for revenge after an invading force leaves his younger brother dead.

As you progress through the game, you will learn many Eikon abilities but you should always remember to stick to the basics in combat. When you want to land a hard hit, it is best to go for a counter strike. First, you need to parry or dodge an attack. This guide will show you how to parry in Final Fantasy 16.

How to parry enemy attacks in Final Fantasy 16

Parrying is a simple move that is difficult to master. To parry an attack, press the square button whenever an enemy is about to hit you with an attack. This will counter the attack and allow you to break an opponent’s guard.

This is a basic move that you will learn during the prologue of the game before you venture further into Valisthea. Smaller enemies as well as bosses can be parried as long as you time the attack correctly. You can also parry attacks using Eikon abilities in this real-time combat game.

Once an attack has been parried, you will have a brief moment where you can perform a counterattack. Make sure to hit the enemy hard with either your sword strikes or a magic attack.

Those who played the demo will have the chance to try out the gameplay before the full game’s release. This preview is available on PlayStation and offers a glimpse at the different abilities like Garuda’s wind magic attacks.

Another ability that is as important as the parry is the precision dodge. Combine the two maneuvers to easily take down enemies and win boss fights. There are many other tricks and abilities that you will learn as you progress through the game.

The introduction to the game reveals the existence of Dominants – humans with the ability to harness Eikon powers from beings like Shiva, Titan, and Phoenix. These characters are essentially weapons of mass destruction belonging to the various nations of Valisthea.
