Fortnite was created by Epic Games years ago and has since evolved into a massively online battle royale game that has seen many changes. There is no denying that this game changed the gaming world as we know it.
The entire game of Fortnite is one that consists of a lobby of new players fighting for survival on a massive island. If you manage to make it to the end, you are crowned the winner and get the satisfaction of knowing you bested up to 99 other players. Fortnite is known for needing an internet connection to play, but can you play Fortnite offline?
Can Fortnite be played offline?
If you are hoping to be able to play Fortnite offline, there is currently no offline mode available. This means that you will need to play the game online no matter what device you are using or the game mode you are playing.
If you need more proof that you cannot play the game offline, Epic Games states on the FAQ page of the website that “Fortnite is a completely online experience. There is no offline mode available.”
Surprisingly, you can’t even play Fortnite Creative offline. To play, Fortnite, you need to download the Epic Games Launcher. From there, you can download the game to whichever device you are using whether it is PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC, or an iOS device like an iPhone or iPad.
From there, you can play Fortnite for free without needing to spend any money. The Epic Games Launcher does allow you to set your profile preferences to offline play but doing that will just prevent you from being able to play the game.
Your online status must be showing that you are online and ready to play if you want to play Fortnite in general. Since the game requires a lobby of up to 100 players, you need an internet connection to play. Just remember, when the next season rolls around, you will need to be online to play it.
