The number of Quirks in Darkest Dungeon 2 you can possess in Darkest Dungeon 2 can determine the tide of most of your battles against all sorts of foes. Just like Darkest Dungeon 2’s sequel, the number of Quirks a hero can possess at a time is capped, making the right selection quite important if you want to progress smoothly through the game. So, how many Quirks can a hero hold onto?

What are the number of quirks available in Darkest Dungeon 2?

The maximum number of Quirks any hero in Darkest Dungeon 2 can have is six, with three being positive and three negative. Your heroes will initially start off with one negative and one positive Quirk, to which more will be added as you near The Mountain in your journey.

You can plan your attacks according to the Quirks and classes your heroes have at their fingertips. However, remember that if you gain another Quirk on a character already having three Quirks, the very first one will be replaced.

How to remove quirks in Darkest Dungeon 2

If you find a Quirk unfit for your fights in Darkest Dungeon 2, even if it’s a positive one, it’s time to head to a Hospital and remove it (with a cost of 16 Relics). There are negative Quirks that are advantageous and some positive ones that might be useless against the grotesque monsters. You can follow the straightforward steps to get rid of any Quirk you don’t like:

  1. Find a Hospital on your journey (You’ll come across them frequently).
  2. Choose the hero you want to remove a Quirk off.
  3. Click on Wellness from the top list of options.
  4. Click on the Quirk you wish to remove.
  5. Click Confirm to spend 16 Relics and remove the selected Quirk.

Alternatively, if you happen to have a Meditative Totem, an Inn Item, you can use it as well to remove a Quirk from your hero. Moreover, Wild Tea, another Inn Item, holds the power to even remove locked-in positive Quirks if it was the very first Qurik on your hero.
