Link’s newest adventure to stop Ganondorf and save Princess Zelda is ready to be played with the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch. The sequel to the popular Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is out for fans of the franchise to enjoy, and there is plenty in Hyrule to explore in your quest, in the vast skies, on land, and deep below.

Forget how to dive while you’re too busy fighting monsters and exploring dungeons? No worries, we’ll get you up to speed.

How to dive while falling in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Diving is the fastest way to fall in Tears of the Kingdom, and it’s incredibly useful because you have much more distance to cover than the previous game. Diving is an important concept, but simple. Here’s all you need to do:

  • Jump off any surface or cliff by pressing X
  • Hold R while falling to dive

There you go, now you can fall at much faster speeds so you’re not soaring through the skies of Hyrule forever. Just remember that unless you are diving into a body of water like Lake Hylia, you will want to put out your paraglider before you hit the ground so Link doesn’t die of fall damage. I speak from experience.

Where can you dive in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Pretty much anywhere is able to be dived to so long as you have enough distance to reach the ground. This is extremely useful for jumping off of the sky islands floating above Hyrule or jumping into the deep depth of the chasms that have opened up around the overworld due to the upheaval and gloom. Both would be a very long, uneventful fall without the ability to dive to reach the ground faster.

You will also have full control of direction while diving, although you won’t be able to make sharp turns. Think of it like riding a horse in game – the faster you go, the less maneuvering ability you have.
