Although they took a bit of a backseat to elemental wells, Orbs of Power are finally back as the main resource to generate in Destiny 2. These little orbs of light are fully integrated into the new mod system and are necessary for most end-game builds.

Despite these orbs being so crucial for most builds, many players are confused about how to make them since it was recently changed with the Lightfall expansion. Let’s go over how to make Orbs of Power in Destiny 2.

How To Make Orbs of Power in Destiny 2

There are two main ways to make Orbs of Power in Destiny 2.

  • By using armor mods
  • By casting your super

With the recent armor rework that came with Lightfall, a lot of the mods that used to generate elemental wells will now generate Orbs of Power instead. This applies to most of the mods linked to your character’s helmet and arm pieces.

The mods available can also change a bit if you are wearing specific pieces of armor from activities, like the new Root of Nightmares armor.

Destiny 2 Helmet Mods

Most of the mods available are related to getting kills with weapons of specific elemental types. These tend to be the siphon mods for your helmet. putting on one of these mods will allow any kill you get with a weapon of the matching element type to have a small chance of making an Orb of Power.

Destiny 2 Arms Mods

On your arms, the mods tend to be related to getting kills with your abilities. Letting kills with both your melee abilities and your grenades generate Orbs of Power for you and your team.

The last way to generate Orbs of Power is with supers. The amount of orbs generated depends on the super that you use. Any buffing super, like Well or Ward will make a flat three Orbs. Damaging supers will generate orbs based on how many kills you get with the super.

If you are looking for a class to easily generate Orbs of Power with, you might want to consider playing one of the strongest classes in Destiny 2 right now.
