Resident Evil 4 Remake is filled with requests for you to complete from hunting down rats to destroying blue medallions in various locations. Each request you complete will get you Spinel that you can trade to the merchant for various items like upgrade tickets and treasures. Each of these requests will be a bit cryptic and have you searching for items. For instance, the Jewel Thief request will have you looking for a Scratched Emerald that was stolen by a crow in the courtyard. Here is how you can get the Scratched Emerald in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
How to complete the Jewel Thief request in Resident Evil 4 Remake
The Jewel Thief request comes up at the start of chapter 12. After a very engaging knife battle in the mines, you will ride an elevator back up to the surface where you will enter a room with a gondola that will take you straight over to the clocktower. Instead of hoping on the gondola, head to the room next to the purple torch to find the your merchant pal waiting for you. Take the opportunity to purchase new weapons and make upgrades.
On the wall between the room with the merchant and where the elevator is, you will be able to find two request notes. The left one of these notes is the one for the Jewel Thief request. Pick it up to get the information you need to complete the request.

With the request picked up, make your way back through the castle to the courtyard. This is the same area where you navigated the hedge mazes and fought the dogs in chapter nine. As soon as you walk through the doors leading to the courtyard, you will see a crow on top of the archway overtop of the stairs. If you startle the crow, it will fly back to its nest.
Go straight through the courtyard to the other side and hang a right after crossing under the archway. You will see the familiar purple torch of the merchant. Look up to see the crow in its nest on the roof near the torch. Shoot the nest to cause the Scratched Emerald to drop to the ground. Pick it up and walk into the merchant’s room to sell it and complete the request.
