Jumping is much easier than cooking a meal or using your new powers like the ascend ability. To jump in Tears of the Kingdom, you simply need to press the X button. This will cause Link to perform a small jump.
Jumping in some instances will lead to you being able to climb or even shield surf. You can also use your paraglider following a jump to help you traverse great distances.
Of course, jumping is also useful in combat and is needed if you want to dodge enemy attacks. You will first learn about the mechanic during the main quest as you are going across the great sky island to the Temple of Time.
How to rocket jump in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Another form of jumping in Tears of the Kingdom is rocket jumping. This can be done in two ways and is great for reaching higher platforms.
Use the Fuse ability to attach a rocket to your shield. Once that is done, you can perform one of two actions; jump on the shield or use it as a rocket.
If you jump onto your shield like you are about to go shield surfing, you will launch into the sky. If you jump and activate the rocket, you will have a more controlled flight.
