The Resident Evil 4 Remake is filled with puzzles for you to solve. While most of the puzzles will allow you to progress through the story, some will get you treasure. These treasures can then be sold for cash to get some of the many weapons in the game. The combination lock is one of the earlier puzzles you will come across in the game provided you search each area thoroughly. If you want to solve it, you need to go looking for a book. Here is how you solve the combination lock in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Resident Evil 4 Remake combination lock solution
The combination lock is one of the earliest puzzles you will find in the game. This puzzle can be found in the Village Chief’s House which is south of the Village Square section of the map. When you reach this area, go inside the house and head to the back room. There, you will find a large cabinet against the back wall. Interacting with this cabinet will show you that there is a combination lock that requires three symbols to solve.
The solution to this lock can be found in the upstairs portion of the house. Go to the hallway and go up the stairs. Once you are at the top, hang a right to find a smaller cabinet with a book on it. Interact with the book and it will read:
“The old farmer, his finest crop. The slight swineherd, his stoutest pig. The beggarly grandam, her own beloved babe.”
These sentences will give you the clues needed to solve the puzzle. Head back down the stairs to the combination lock.

From left to right, you need to put the crop, pig, and baby symbols. Once all of the symbols are in the correct order, the lock will open, giving you access to the contents of the cabinet. Inside the cabinet, you will find the Crystal Marble – a necessary item to progress forward in the game and open the upstairs door. Make sure to come back here later to fight the Savage Mutt and complete the merchant’s request.
