With the highly anticipated release of Honkai: Star Rail, players have already gotten sneak peeks of the exciting characters and have started questioning whether the game is a sequel to Honkai Impact or not.

Is Honkai Star Rail A Continuation Of Honkai Impact?
Although both the games have some similarities, Honkai: Star Rail is not a sequel to Honkai Impact 3rd. This is because Honkai Star Rail features a completely new story which is nowhere near the storyline set in place by Honkai Impact 3rd.
Moreover, the story in Honkai: Star Rail takes place in more of an alternate universe and the events occur far in the future from Honkai Impact 3rd’s storyline. While we can see similar faces or complete characters like Welt Yang making their way into Honkai Star Rail’s verse, it doesn’t promise a continuation of the previous game.
Is Honkai Star Rail And Honkai Impact The Same
The upcoming Honkai: Star Rail is intended to be a new and unique game, completely different from other HoYoverse releases including Honkai Impact 3rd. Unlike Honkai Impact 3rd, Honkai: Star Rail will feature turn-based RPG gameplay without any co-op or multiplayer options. With a new story and game mechanic, it is to be the fourth game in the Honkai Series being the chronological successor to Honkai Impact 3rd.
Is Honkai Star Rail Based On Honkai Impact
With Honkai: Star Rail in the making, we’ve received plenty of news about the to-be-released game’s plot and playstyle. From what is known, Honkai: Star Rail would share the same universe as Honkai Impact 3rd. However, story-wise, the universe in the new game won’t exactly be the same but rather it would be set in the future in a parallel universe.
