Is Star Wars Jedi Survivor Open World? Well, this is actually a little more nuanced to answer nowadays given that many games are called open-world when they might not quite be. The great thing about open-world games is that you can go at your own pace, wherever you want. Games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, and the more recent Assassin’s Creed games all fall under the open-world umbrella and nail it; you can literally go anywhere and do anything (sort of) across the entire map.
With Jedi Survivor looming over the horizon and coming to consoles in days, it is fair to ask, and we’re here to provide that clarity.
Is Star Wars Jedi Survivor Open World?
Star Wars Jedi Survivor will consist of some open-world gameplay where you will have freedom to explore the many planets. However, it isn’t a complete open-world game, you will have larger levels to progress through and there is a linear order to the story.
On the plus side, players can expect more to explore in Jedi Survivor which is less linear than Fallen Order when it comes to path-taking. Side quests, though not completely an open-world experience allows you to derive from the linear story to explore more of the galactic world of Star Wars too.
The map has seemed to be improved in the sequel too. Fallen Order’s map had a lot of detail but the map was tricky to dissect and it almost felt tedious completing hints to unlock other areas!
The prequel to the upcoming game, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, was overall a linear game that, broadly speaking, took you in a straight line from start to finish but then also allowed you to explore open areas along the way. There were linear paths that you could stray from to find collectibles and hidden objects, but you were bound to the area you were in at the time.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor will feature a similar world design to its predecessor with various planets and locations you can visit but each area will be contained. You will be allowed to search the areas and explore hidden locations with them, but you won’t have the true freedom of a real open world like Horizon Forbidden West, and certainly not from the outset.
