NetherRealm Studios’ classic arcade franchise Mortal Kombat is reborn with Mortal Kombat 1, ushering in a new era for the series. In order to prepare for the launch of the game, an online stress test is upon us.

This stress test comes with a lot of questions for fans of the series; how do I sign up for it? What time does it start? What will be available to play during the stress test? Can my laptop handle it?

Do you want to know what game modes will be available during the Mortal Kombat 1 Online Stress Test? That’s what we’re here for.

What game modes are available in MK1 Online Stress Test?

The online stress test for Mortal Kombat 1 will feature two game modes to play through:

  • 1v1 online multiplayer
  • A limited single-player Klassic Tower mode with AI opponents

The online multiplayer will let players battle it out against other stress test participants by choosing their fighter and going head to head. Klassic Tower mode will be single-player and will let players combat AI opponents. This mode will be limited, so you won’t get the full Klassic Tower mode that will be in the game at launch on September 19, but there will still be plenty of battles.

The online stress test for Mortal Kombat 1 is designed to stress the online servers for the game prior to launch, to make sure the servers can handle the weight of all the gamers that will be playing the game.

You can still sign up for access to the stress test with your WB Games account, but the participants are chosen at random, and there’s no way to guarantee access. If you aren’t chosen for this stress test, you’ll just have to wait for the game to launch (unless more tests are done before launch, a possibility despite nothing being confirmed).

The stress test will only be available for console players on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, but as long as you have gained access on one of those platforms, you’ll be able to spend your time battling it out in the two game modes in the stress test.
