Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone have been steadily releasing seasons for a while now, each releasing tons of new content like new game modes. The newest release, Season 5, will follow in those footsteps.

As soon as Season 5 starts, gamers will be treated to plenty of new additions. New weapons, new operators, new vehicles, and more will be included, as well as new game modes to compete in.

Need to know all the new game modes for Season 5 of MW2 and Warzone? We’ve got all the information you need right here.

All Game Modes in MW2 and Warzone Season 5

There are three new game modes being introduced in Season 5 of MW2 and Warzone, and one returning mode:

  • Havoc
  • Big Capture the Flag
  • Gunfight Variants (including Armored Gunfight)
  • Faceoff returns

All these game modes will be launching at the beginning of Season 5, with the exception of some of the Gunfight Variants being added during in-season and at mid-season.

Havoc

Havoc is a Core Multiplayer frenzy-like mode that starts out similar to Team Deathmatch, but instead of Perk Packages, Killstreaks, or Field Upgrades, instead random modifiers will be added to change up the gameplay. Each team starts with a modifier, and when a team reaches a multiple of 12 kills (12,24,36, etc.) a new modifier will be added for both teams. There are 12 modifiers in total, with some being:

  • Ammo Feeder: Auto reloads a weapon upon death
  • Boots off the Ground: Moon gravity, only affects player jump heights
  • Flameshot: Only Flame-tipped Crossbows and Molotovs, all loadouts change immediately
  • Hero Landing: Landing from a large drop creates a frag-grenade-like explosion around you
  • Perspective Shift: Everyone goes to third-person camera view

Big Capture the Flag

Like Capture the Flag, but bigger. Big Capture the Flag lets squads of 20 play against each other to skulk behind enemy lines and obtain the flag, or defend your own flag from opponents. The new larger size of teams will provide intense gunfights and chaotic battles.

Gunfight Variants

There will be three new variants for 2v2 Gunfight during Season 5:

  • Gunfight Custom: The same as standard Gunfight, but this time you get to bring your own loadouts in. This variant releases at launch.
  • Gunfight Snipers: Leave all your secondaries and other weapons behind, as this Gunfight variant only lets you use snipers and marksman rifles. This variant releases at mid-season.
  • Armored Gunfight: Another variant similar to standard Gunfight, this time armor is enabled. Each player starts with 150 HP and 100 Health. There will not be any replacement plates or health regeneration, so keep that in mind. This variant releases in-season.

In addition to the new modes above, the Faceoff mode will also be returning to the game, with an upped player count to 4v4 matches.

New game modes aren’t the only addition being added during Season 5 of MW2 and Warzone. New operators including Oz, Graves, Mila, Velikan, Mace, and Arthur, as well as celebrity guest operators Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and 21 Savage, are joining the game. There will be new weapons including the FR Avancer Assault Rifle, Carrack .300 Sniper Rifle, and Pickaxe Melee Weapon, and new maps like Canal, Punta Mar, and Lounge will be joining the lineup.

Shadow Company is taking over Season 5 for the new DMZ focused on taking down the Konni forces in all different maps, like Al Mazrah and Vondel. CoD fans will also be pleased with the many events Activision has planned, including the Vondel Champion’s Quest, and the exclusive reveal event for Call of Duty 2023.

Get ready for the new battle pass and bundles that will be coming this August in Season 5 of MW2 and Warzone. Hop on the new Dirt Bike in the new Core Maps and Gunfight Maps to jump straight into the action.
