NBA 2K23 Final Cover Athlete: 3 players it could be

Just a little over an hour ago, NBA 2K announced it will be adding one more cover athlete to its collection of different copies of NBA 2K23.
With the latest editions of NBA 2K23 already featuring NBA superstars like Michael Jordan, both Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird, and Devin Booker, there’s plenty to be excited about as we speculate who might join this elite company of players that have left their special mark on the NBA.
The options are fruitful. From active stars to retired legends, there’s a lot of directions NBA 2K could take with their final cover athlete. Though there has been no confirmation or updates on who it will be, we’re going to take a look at the Top 3 options we think it could be leading up to 2K’s final cover announcement.

NBA 2K23: Final cover athlete predictions
- LeBron James: After watching their sneak peak clip several times, 2K clearly didn’t want to make it obvious so it’s hard to say for sure if LeBron James would grace the final cover. But if there are any special correlations we are looking for in regards to the number 23 (outside of its profound association with Michael Jordan), its none other than LeBron James. The four time champion’s last appearance on a cover was for NBA 2K19, where he landed on the 20th Anniversary edition.
- Nikola Jokic: The Joker has taken the NBA by a storm and did so by winning back-to-back MVP Awards over these last two seasons. Seeing he has yet to grace a NBA 2K cover in his career, it would make sense to finally grant him that honor after the way he’s dominated over the last two years. Again, it’s a stretch but it could very well happen.
- Giannis Antetokounmpo: The Greek Freak is a phenom and proved his worth after leading the Milwaukee Bucks to their first NBA Championship Title in 50 years in 2021. After being the featured cover athlete for NBA 2K19, 2K might opt to represent their gifted international talent once more in their final cover of NBA 2K23.
Keep in mind that this is all speculative and based on logical possibilities that could make sense for NBA 2K to select each of these three names for their final cover. Whether it will happen or not, is left to be determined.
