While it had a rocky start, No Man’s Sky has certainly become the interstellar experience that we were all promised back when the game was initially revealed all those years ago. With the game playable across so many different platforms, there are many players out there wondering if the game is cross platform or not. While it may not have started out multiplayer at all, these days it is indeed possible to play the game with your friends whether they’re playing on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, or PS5.

Is No Man’s Sky Cross Platform? – Is No Man’s Sky Crossplay

Since an update back in 2020, No Man’s Sky has indeed supported crossplay for every platform that the game was released on. It’s even possible to add your friends to make them much easier to play with and identify whether or not they happen to be playing on the same platform as you or not.

How to Play No Man’s Sky Cross Platform

Crossplay is enabled by default in the game, but if you want to play specifically with your friends, then you’re going to need to add them first. Rather than using your chosen platform’s friend list, you can use the in-game friend system instead. On the multiplayer menu, you should see a unique friend code at the bottom of the screen. Either you or your friend will need to use that code to join a game with the other person regardless of which platform either of you is using.

Does No Man’s Sky Have Cross Save/ Cross Progression

While crossplay is enabled, the game doesn’t have much to say about cross progression. If you’re playing the Xbox version of the game, and then want to keep using your save on PC, you technically can. The only way to do this is to buy the game through the Microsoft store or use the version included in PC GamePass. If you do, you should find that your data is synced between both versions of the game.
