Overwatch 2 is packed with over 30 heroes to choose from when it comes time to play. Each one comes with their own abilities, dialogue, and skins.

Since the Overwatch 2 Season 6 release is on its way, fans are hyped to add another hero to the ever-expanding roster to choose from. Whether you’re preloading the new content or waiting to dive in, you’ll want to know who the new hero is.

Who is the new Overwatch 2 hero for Season 6? That’s what we’re here to let you know. Let’s go into all the details you could want about the next Overwatch 2 playable character.

Who is the new hero for Overwatch 2 Season 6?

The new hero for Season 6, titled Invasion, of Overwatch 2 is the support hero Illari. The new support hero hails from Peru and will be able to both:

  • Heal teammates
  • Harm enemies

All with her massive gun, which appears to be a railgun-type weapon.

Illari will be the 38th hero in Overwatch 2’s catalog when she arrives on August 10 as part of the Invasion Season.

What are the new Overwatch 2 hero’s abilities?

Unfortunately, we don’t know much about Illari’s abilities yet. In the Invasion trailer, we can see her take down a Pharah while she’s using her Ultimate with her primary fire.

Illari is a solar-powered hero, whose weapon is completely powered by the sun. Her abilities, likewise, give her solar power to use, including for her Ultimate, Captive Sun. Using Captive Sun lets Illari jump up high into the air and launch a solar-powered bomb at enemies.

Her backstory is unknown right now, but we’ll update this article as soon as there is more information available on the newest support hero.

There’s plenty more to look forward to when Blizzard releases Season 6: Invasion. A new mode is being added, the new core mode Flashpoint, to play on the two new massive maps New Junk City and Suravasa. Story missions are being introduced to the game modes for players to work together in PvE to take down Null Sector in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg. Hero Mastery, a new progression system, is also being added, to let players work their way up leaderboards to become the best at their chosen hero.

A new battle pass is coming with plenty of cosmetics to earn, including legendary skins for Cassidy and Kiriko. Balance changes will be coming to many support heroes like Mercy and Kiriko. These hero changes will make things balanced for Illari’s introduction. All of these patches serve the purpose of making the new hero, Illari, a welcome newcomer to Overwatch 2.
