What difficulty settings will Starfield have at launch? Bethesda games typically have many different difficulty modes to choose from. Games like Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have around six difficulty options each. A game like Starfield could have the same number or it could vary from planet to planet.
Combat in Bethesda games is typically pretty easy unless you have the game on a higher difficulty such as hardcore or survival mode. Most of the other gameplay portions are split between dialogue and exploration.

Starfield is similar to other Bethesda titles like the Fallout games and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It has the following difficulty levels to choose from:
- Very Easy
- Easy
- Normal
- Hard
- Very Hard
Depending on which difficulty mode you choose, you will have a harder or easier time defeating enemies, talking to NPCs, and gathering resources. There aren’t any achievements for beating the game on the harder difficulties.
Whether you are playing on PC or Xbox Series X/S, you will have the same difficulty options to choose from. Past franchises have proven that the development studio likes to put multiple difficulty options in to help tailor the gameplay experience to each individual.
Go on an epic journey across the universe in your spaceship. At the start of the game, choose your difficulty. This will determine how hard the main story and all of the side quests will be. It will also determine whether you can make easy allies with the pirates of the Crimson Fleet and the other factions.
What are the differences in difficulties in Starfield?
The difficulty levels in Starfield affect how easy the game is and determine how likely you are to find legendary enemies. When set to higher difficulties, the enemies will have more health, hit harder, and drop better loot.
If you want to farm legendary items and be challenged more, you will want to play on difficulty levels higher than normal.
