There are different handhelds to choose from in the Steam Deck family but each of them offers similar hardware specs with only slight differences. The Starfield system requirements, however, could prove to be a bit much for the console.

In Starfield, you will explore the galaxy and have many space adventures across tons of different planets. Pre order the game to get various items that you can use in-game. You could even get early access. When the game does release, will you be able to play it on your Steam Deck? Is Starfield Steam Deck compatible?

Can you play Starfield on Steam Deck?

So far, there has been no official word about whether or not Starfield will be Steam Deck compatible. Todd Howard, however, did provide a slight update on the matter. In an interview, he stated, “We’ll talk about that later down the road. Yeah.”

If you check the Steam page, you will notice that Steam Deck compatibility is not listed for Starfield. This doesn’t mean you can’t play the game on your Steam Deck. As a handheld using Linux, the Steam Deck can play any game compatible with Proton.

The handheld PC is powerful and can run some great games. If Starfield does not have full support on the Steam Deck when it launches, it could possibly come later on. If anything, fans will probably figure out a way to make it run smoothly on the handheld system.
