Street Fighter 6 is now available for PlayStation, Xbox Series X, and PC. The fighting game has undergone many changes such as the addition of World Tour Mode along with many of the characters such as Cammy, Ryu, Zangief, and Ken, who have received updated looks.
For the most part in Street Fighter 6, you will unlock characters through World Tour Mode and explore areas like Metro City. There are other fighters like Akuma that appear to not be in the game. Don’t worry, Capcom has a plan. So is Akuma in Street Fighter 6?
Can you unlock Akuma in Street Fighter 6?
If you were hoping to play as Akuma as soon as you get your hands on the game, you cannot. Akuma is not currently in Street Fighter 6. Instead, he will be coming later this year as a DLC fighter. Capcom has already announced the first wave of DLC fighters.
Currently, you can unlock many other characters with some needing a side-quest to unlock. Others like Marisa, JP, Dee Jay, Luke, Dhalsim, Jamie, Chun-li, Manon, Guile, and Juri, can be found by your avatar throughout the story.
There are other characters that will be appearing later on as well with some being returning characters of the franchise while others being new to the series.
When will Akuma be added to Street Fighter 6?
Akuma and other fighters will release throughout the course of the next year. You can expect the following DLC characters to be added to the roster at the following times:
- A.K.I – Coming Autumn 2023
- Rashid – Coming Coming Summer 2023
- Ed – Coming Winter 2024
- Akuma/Gouki – Coming Spring 2024
As you can see, Akuma won’t be around for quite some time. It looks like those who are excited to play this new form of the returning character will need to wait almost a full year to be able to try out his fighting style.
