Modern Warfare 2 is finally bringing back a fan-favorite mode from previous games and fans couldn’t be more excited. Face Off is a new mode to Modern Warfare 2 that will be coming with the mid-season update. Let’s go over what Face Off is and what players can expect from it in Modern Warfare 2.
Modern Warfare 2 Face Off Mode Explained
Face Off is the new 3v3 game mode coming back to Modern Warfare 2 with season 3 reloaded. It is similar to Gunfight but with slightly larger maps and more objective-based modes. In each Face Off match, you will play modes like Team Deathmatch and Domination, instead of only having one life and focusing on eliminations.
This makes the mode much more team-oriented since you will have to work with your two other teammates in order to win. The maps for Face Off should be the same maps that are used for Gunfight, so you don’t need to worry about learning new callouts.
While this won’t be the first time Face Off has made an appearance in the franchise, we are unable to predict exactly how the mode will feel this time around. The best guess anyone has right now is that the mode is going to be hectic.
The maps are most likely going to feel just a bit too small for six players compared to the four players they are designed for. This will also play into the current meta of Modern Warfare 2 where SMGs and fast-firing weapons are king. But maybe some of the new weapons can help change the meta once players have the battle pass tokens to unlock them.
The final big change that players will notice in Face Off is the lack of killstreaks and scorestreaks. While this may be an unexpected turn for some, it makes sense when you think about how small the map is. A single cruise missile would be able to shut down the enemy team with ease and a mortar strike can shut down half of a map.
