Call of Duty first came out in 2003 with its first franchise title, then being followed by Call of Duty: United Offensive, Call of Duty: Finest Hour, and then Call of Duty 2 coming out in 2005. The CoD games have been a very popular battle royale game that has been around a lot longer than Fortnite, which was released in 2017.
The games from this popular Activision multiplayer franchise have been on many different consoles, the most recent ones being PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. With there being so many Call of Duty games still available for purchase, it can be confusing which one is the latest version.
Another recent Call of Duty title is Vanguard, which released in 2021. Something that keeps players returning is the activness of the franchises studios adding new weapons, blueprints, operator skins and other cool content in new updates.
What is the latest Call of Duty game?
The latest Call of Duty game at the time of writing is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which also includes the free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone game as well. These are the two latest installments of the franchise.
Something that is missing from the new modern games is CoD Zombies, which many fans want to see added. This is something that we haven’t seen come into a new game yet, but we can have hope that they will look at it later. Most of the Call of Duty Zombies modes come in DLC which has to be purchased separately. These are available on Black Ops II and Black Ops III.
For now, the new content players can bank on receiving is the new season of Call of Duty: Warzone to keep things exciting until a new game releases. However, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II has been out since 2019, while Warzone came out in 2020, so both are still pretty recent games featuring a couple of different modes but not as many as past games. Another fan-favorite Call of Duty game is Black Ops Cold War which is available for purchase on all major consoles.
For now, there is no news of the next game coming anytime soon, especially since there is still content coming for these two games currently available. Until a later date, Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 – now known as Warzone – are the latest CoD games that are available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, as well as the full Battle Pass bundle. Gamers can also get really luck by waiting a sale when some of the best Call of Duty games will be discounted and a pack of them can be purchased.
With each new season of Call of Duty, players can take part in a new battle pass in Warzone which keeps the game very exciting with each passing season. The Battle Pass comes with different outifts and skins for CoD operators.
