Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda will be releasing its newest adventure to the series on May 12 and with it countless new locations, abilities, and a brand new story for fans to play through. Many fan favorites are confirmed to be in the sequel, including the main character Link and the titular Princess Zelda. But what about the maracas-playing korok Hestu?

Is Hestu going to be in Tears of the Kingdom?

Will Hestu be in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Without any spoilers, yes, fans of the giant korok around will be pleased to learn that playtesters have confirmed that Hestu will be returning for the sequel to the wildly popular The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Hestu and the many koroks from korok forest are scattered around Hyrule and will be able to be found as a side quest to complete.

Their korok seeds will also be returning, and each korok will give you one once you find them by completing their puzzles. These seeds can then be traded to Hestu for more inventory slots for things like swords, shields, and bows.

Who else is returning in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

A whole host of other fan favorites will be returning in the newest Zelda title, as well. Check out who else is confirmed to be in the game:

  • Riju, Cheif of the Gerudo
  • Prince Sidon of the Zoras
  • Tulin, son of Teba of the Rito
  • King of Evil Ganondorf will make his return to the series

The return of Ganondorf has been a major point for the latest Zelda, as Ganondorf has not been in an official Zelda mainline series game since The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was released in 2006. He appeared as Calamity Ganon in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom he will be in human form. Ganondorf will serve as the villain for the main story in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The newest entry in the Zelda series, Tears of the Kingdom, will be released worldwide on May 12, 2023. Be sure to pre-load the game on your Switch console if you want to play it as soon as it releases.
