Breath of the Wild introduced everyone to a new iteration of Hyrule. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom welcomes players back to the land of Hyrule but with some major changes. After the destruction of Calamity Ganon, everyone thought the world would be at peace. They were wrong.

In the Breath of the Wild sequel, Demon King Ganon has risen and brought about changes to the world. Hyrule is now filled with mysterious gaping chasms and floating land masses called ski islands. What does this mean for the villages? What towns will be in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

What villages are in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Tears of the Kingdom takes place in the same iteration of Hyrule as Breath of the Wild. There are some notable changes like new ruins, dank caves, and dungeons, but the land remains the same after the events of Breath of the Wild.

The only town that has been absolutely confirmed to be in Tears of the Kingdom is Hateno Village. This is because Link briefly be seen running through the village in the final trailer for the game. Of course, fans immediately spotted this in the gameplay trailer.

Since the world is the same as in BotW, we can assume that the following villages may make an appearance in Tears of the Kingdom:

  • Kakariko Village
  • Gerudo Town
  • Rito Village
  • Goron City
  • Zora’s Domain
  • Tarrey Town
  • Lurelin Village

The new version of Hyrule will be changed but the people of Hyrule will still need places to live. Because of this, we can expect many of the towns to make an appearance but we can especially count on the four major villages appearing as they have often appeared in Zelda games going all the way back to Ocarina of Time.

Since there have been changes made to the landscape in the new Zelda game, we can possibly expect there to be a new town somewhere on the map but there will be many familiar locations as well in this open world.

This time around, Link has access to new abilities to help him traverse the new lands. Abilities like Fuse, Recall, and Ascend, will help Link reach the sky islands, navigate the puzzles, and complete all sorts of epic adventures.

There is no doubt that the newest Nintendo Switch title will have plenty of side quests to complete as well. Link will have to complete this grand journey without the help of the Master Sword and instead rely on other weapons and his new Ultrahand.
