God of War’s PC version just received a new update that addresses memory leak issues that led to decreased performance for some players. The new update should significantly improve performance and prevent crashes for players that faced the issue since the game’s launch.

Addressed a bug that caused leaks in memory allocation which could result in either decreased performance or a game client crash.
How to Fix God of War Crashes
If you are still facing crashes or memory leaks even after the update you can try the following solutions.
- Restart your computer and launch Steam
- Next, you can either right-click the game in your Library, or click the gear icon from the game’s Library page on the far right
- From the drop down menu, select Properties
- Select the Local Files tab and click the Verify integrity of game files button
- Steam will verify the game’s files – this process may take several minutes
Note: Do not run the verification process while performing other system-intensive processes, such as defragmenting your hard drive or scanning for viruses. Do not run this process for multiple games at the same time. If you are still facing issues, a fresh install may be needed.
Turning on DLSS from the game’s settings can also significantly improve performance if you own a DLSS-supported NVIDIA card. Despite the recent issues, God of War’s port performs well on PC and players have been commending the performance on desktops. Any other performance issues or bugs are likely to be fixed in a future update.
