AMD’s impressive yet affordable RX 6000 series graphics cards were not as popular as the Nvidia counterparts but still offered excellent value.
The 6800 XT slots right in the middle for gaming at 4K “High” settings among the three cards in the release lineup, all of which are touted as being 4K-ready gaming cards. That’s a big boast, but AMD claims to have exceeded their 50% performance-per-watt boost over RDNA 1, so it shouldn’t be a big deal.

Is a 6800 XT overkill for 1080p?
The RX 6800 XT isn’t a slouch when it comes to pure gaming performance. Notably, we were becoming CPU bound at 1080p and even to some extent at 1440p.
Thus specific titles didn’t experience much of a performance hit there. With Smart Access Memory, you can overcome the CPU-bound performance for lower resolutions.
Remember that the 6800 XT can easily push above 60 FPS at 4K at the highest settings without overclocking, SAM, or Rage Mode. The card can truly just be plugged in to start working as planned.
The 6800 XT can be considered more as a cost-inefficient graphics card as compared to the overkill. This is mainly because the AMD products lack the ray tracing code. On the other hand, it provides a good amount of future-proofing.
Even though the true effectiveness of higher refresh rates is hotly contested, you will notice two differences.
These are motion blur and apparent screen tearing. Therefore, it is a bad idea to upgrade to the 6800 XT if you feel that you are missing in these areas.
The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card offers a lot of features. You might easily be operating a 4K display if your CPU is comparable to how agile. But why are you just shooting in 1080p?
If you own a 144Hz monitor, you can opt for the 6800 XT, or else it might be an overkill. Instead, the 5700 XT also works well at 1080p and is reasonably priced. You won’t gain a great gaming experience with 6800 XT at 1080p.
