The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT are the two new graphics cards that AMD released. We’ll be focusing on the latter in our review. These new graphics cards, which replace the outgoing RX 6900 series, are constructed on the RDNA 3 architecture. As a poke at NVIDIA’s current pricing debacle, AMD’s new flagship 7900 GPUs are meant to provide reliable 4K gaming experiences for less than $1,000.

Since there are no records of hash rates at the time this article was written, we can only infer the mining performance from the GPU’s specifications. We may estimate that the hash rate for memory-intensive algorithms like ETCHash will be around 90 MH/s based on the specifications from RX 6900 XT and RX 7900 XT.

The crypto mining can’t be running racks of the most recent GeForce RTX 4090 Ti graphics cards, and AMD’s latest Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards with RDNA 3 can’t either. Even so, it scores 657 GH/s in the “Radeon RX 7000” control test and 579 GH/s in the “Radeon RX 7000” overclock test, so no.

Overall, AMD asserts that RDNA 3 outperforms RDNA 2 by 54% in terms of performance per watt. RDNA 2 itself was an improvement over the original RDNA architecture by 54%. The decision to employ GDDR6 memory instead of the higher-bandwidth GDDR6X RAM that NVIDIA uses on some of its top-tier GeForce cards reflects this emphasis on efficiency.

Despite some ongoing supply chain concerns, 2023 is already looking promising for PC gamers and enthusiasts. New CPUs were also announced by AMD and Intel that improve single- and multi-thread performance on platforms with the most cutting-edge IO technologies. In addition to all the emerging cutting-edge gear, cryptocurrency mining has failed, and gamers and enthusiasts may now obtain the newest GPUs without needing to pass muster or pay scalpers who demand outrageous rates.
