ASUS have revealed a new UHD gaming monitor at Computex 2023 which fills a much called for, previously unavailable size niche: the ASUS ROG PG38UQ 38 inch 4K monitor.

Up until now we’ve been stuck between either a 32-inch or a 42-inch monitor (or the huge 48-inch) for 4K gaming, but this provides a nice middle ground for those who found those other size options unsuitable. Read below for all the details.

ASUS ROG PG38UQ specs

The ASUS ROG Swift PG38UQ is ‘the world’s first 38-inch 4K UHD gaming display’ though besides that the specifications aren’t particularly mind-blowing. It doesn’t come with G-Sync (though does have AMD FreeSync Premium Pro), doesn’t appear to have any real tilt/pivot movement on the stand, and the peak brightness value was conspicuous by its absence (although based on it having DisplayHDR 600 we can assume it will reach 600 nits when viewing HDR content at least).

  • Display type: IPS
  • Screen size: 38-inch
  • Resolution: 3,840 x 2,160 (16:9)
  • Refresh rate: 144Hz
  • Response time: 1ms gray-to-gray
  • Connectivity: USB hub, 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (with DSC, supports 144Hz), 1x HDMI 2.1 (supports 120Hz)
  • VRR: AMD FreeSync Premium Pro
  • Brightness, color, contrast: 98% DCI-P3, 10-bit color, DisplayHDR 600
