Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition Launches Nov.14

During its Gamescom Inside Xbox live stream, Microsoft announced Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition will hit stores on Nov. 14, 2019, on Steam, Microsoft Store, and Xbox Game Pass.

Announced at last year’s Gamescom, the revamped edition of the classic medieval real-time strategy title was unveiled in all its 4K glory at E3 2019 and was a sight for sore eyes with updated 4K resolutions and a remastered soundtrack, alongside a few choice quality of life improvements that have irked the title for years such as automatic farm reseeding.

Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition features all of 24 existing campaigns that have players take on the role of famous figures throughout a thousand-year historical timespan amounting to over 200 hours of gameplay. All content from The Conquerors, The Forgotten, The African Kingdoms, Rise of the Rajas expansions are available as well.

That’s not all though as Microsoft has conjured up a brand new one campaign dubbed The Last Khans and four new civilizations for the occasion, Bulgarians, Cumans, Lithuanians, and Tatars.

The fact the title goes on sale simultaneously on both Steam and Microsoft Store should quell player outcry as was the case with the one-year exclusivity Microsoft bagged for Age of Empires: Definitive Edition.

With cross-play support across all platforms, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition is sure to fuel many nostalgia-infused hours of gameplay for fans of the original and is a fitting homage to mark the twentieth anniversary of Age of Empires 2’s release.
