Age of Empire 4 patch 11009 is now available for PC download (Steam). According to the AOE4 patch notes, the current version adds some general tweaks to ensure there’s enough counterplay, modifications to lessen animation canceling’s influence on the rate of fire to re-focus on high-level strategy, and another pass on balancing for a range of our civilizations. Aside from that, patch 11009 for Age of Empires 4 (AOE4) contains performance enhancements.

The previous big update included new Maps, Spectator chat, and several bug fixes. Unfortunately, many gamers are still having problems while playing the game. Here are some of the key highlights from the patch notes.

Highlights of AOE4 Update 11009

Here are some of the key changes that come along with the latest update.

  • We’ve made improvements to the animation cancelling issues previously called out by players; we’ll be keeping an eye out for your feedback to make additional adjustments in this area, but with this patch, units can no longer easily perform faster attacks than intended by issuing a move command after attacking to cancel the cooldown between hits
  • Fixed a bug where Palisade Walls could no longer be targeted.
  • Trebuchet projectiles now deal Area of Effect damage when missing their intended target.
  • Fixed a bug where Incendiary ships damage range increased significantly after researching the Explosives tech.
  • Fixed a bug where Incendiary Ships were exploding 2 or even more times in some cases. To keep the unit balanced we’ve increased the explosion damage 300 to 400.
  • Scout cost increased from 60 to 70 Food.
