AOC are one of the leading manufacturers for gaming monitors, especially with their line of AGON monitors providing high-end specs and stunning visuals for gamers. That being said, the portable gaming monitor market is something they’ve yet to tap into – until now. They’ve announced the AOC GAMING 16G3, which was later followed up by an announcement for a 27″ 144Hz curved monitor.
Although you may think of picking up a gaming laptop to get your gaming fix while out and about, portable monitors offer a way of expanding your screen space, especially with something like a Steam Deck or ASUS ROG Ally. You could even use one as an second screen for your laptop.
AOC reveal design of GAMING 16G3 portable gaming monitor
We now can get our first look at the AOC GAMING 16G3 thanks to the reveal. Starting off with how it looks, it features a pretty minimalistic design to match its small stature. As a 15.6″ display, this matches many gaming laptops currently on the market, though it could be used by PC and console gamers alike.
The simply black and red color scheme isn’t the most outlandish, but that’s no really a problem at all. It looks sleek and compact, just what we like to see in a portable monitor. Considering it has a 11.5mm profile and weights less than 1.1kg, its super practical for traveling.

Within their press release, AOC also provided us with a good look at the specs of this gaming display on the go. To say the least, we’re impressed with the kind of display they’ve packed into this compact monitor. Check out a list of the specifications below to find out more.

As you can see, the stunning IPS display is great for high refresh rate gaming and is easily compatible with PCs, laptops, and consoles without a problem. The headphone jack is also a nice addition.
AOC GAMING 16G3 price & release date
If you’re interested in the AOC GAMING 16G3, then you’re probably wondering about the cost and just when you can get your hands on one. Well, AOC announced that the display will be available from mid-September 2023, while the price (in the UK atleast) will be set to an MSRP of £249.99.
It’s a pretty high cost for a smaller display like this. However, as the first of its kind from AOC, its a great entry for those that fit the relatively niche audience for portable gaming monitors.
