Want to know where to buy Atari 2600+ / Atari 2600 Plus? Well, we’ve been figuring out where the retro console remake will be going on sale and can talk you through the Atari 2600+ pre order details. If you had an Atari 2600 way back in the day, or still have some game cartridges collecting dust somewhere, the 2600+ offers a modern solution, even coming with 10 games of its own. The console includes HDMI output for multiple screen resolutions and even USB power.

We can see this being a fantastic gift in time for the holiday season, or just a great way of reliving some nostalgic memories with a new generation or two of players. The console is a close recreation of the original Atari VCS console, later named the 2600, and it’s now up for pre-order online on Amazon. Complete with the CX40+ joystick for an authentic feel. And heck, not for you? Well check out the Raspberry Pi 5 for more neat projects.

Atari 2600 plus pre order details – where can you pre order the Atari 2600+?

Right now, the Atari 2600+ has gone up for pre-order over on Amazon, though there is a little bit of time to wait before you can get your hands on it. It’s clear that Atari are targeting the holiday season with this one, as it will be released on November 17, 2023. Regardless, pre-orders have arrived nice and early to give you all the chance in the world to get one reserved in time.

Along with the joystick, you also get 10 games included on a single cartridge, featuring a wide range of popular titles from days gone by:

  • Combat
  • Dodge ‘Em
  • Haunted House
  • Maze Craze
  • Missile Command
  • Realsports Volleyball
  • Surround
  • Video Pinball
  • Yar’s Revenge

A 4-in-1 game cartridge is available too, though this is sold separately; this package includes two paddle controllers, which are for use with the four included games. While the pre-order only gets a single joystick, you can buy an additional CX40+ joystick separately too.

The console is listed for sale on the official Atari website store too.

Atari 2600 plus price

As we can see from the pre-order listing, the Atari 2600+ costs $129.99. This includes the console, joystick, and 10 games in 1 cartridge. It’s also worth noting that it is capable of playing original Atari cartridges, as well as those for the Atari 7800, so plenty of worth if you already have some old cartridges to dig up and play.

The original Atari 2600 was introduced at a pricey (especially at the time) $189.95, but that’s no surprise considering its status as a trailblazer of early home video game entertainment. It’s nice to see such an iconic console given a modern reboot while retaining much of its original compatibility.
