BattleBit Remastered is an updated version of the popular online multiplayer game, BattleBit. It brings enhanced graphics, improved gameplay mechanics, and additional content to provide a more immersive and exciting experience. But it appears some users’ time is limited as devs plan to add FACEIT anti-cheat, alienating Linux and Steam Deck users.

For now, though, players engage in intense battles, teaming up with friends or competing against others in various game modes, utilizing a wide range of weapons and tactics to claim victory.

BattleBit developers plan to add FACEIT anti-cheat software

Currently, BattleBit Remastered runs with EAC, Easy Anti-Cheat, but the developers do not seem happy with the decision to use this software as this post on Reddit indicates.

BattleBit developers plan to add FACEIT anti cheat software

Why the developers are so unhappy with EAC remains a mystery, but they seem incredibly eager to make the switch to FACEIT.

However, switching comes with one major issue.

The issue with FACEIT anti-cheat

FACEIT anti-cheat is a fantastic software that provides almost unparalleled protection against in-game cheaters. You may perhaps already know FACEIT as the platform that hosts higher-level CS:GO gameplay and is generally revered for it’s functionality and community focus.

The issue, however, arises with its anti-cheat software. FACEIT’s proprietary anti-cheat software does not play nicely with Linux systems. As is described on FACEIT’s website:

The anti cheat is only available for Windows 10 and 11. We do not support Linux or Mac versions of the anti cheat.”

As you know, the operating system on the Steam Deck is based on Linux, this means that should the developers of BattleBit implement FACEIT anti-cheat, BattleBit will not be available to Linux users.

What can be done?

There are two main fixes that ensure the Linux platform isn’t alienated completely from BattleBit Remastered. One of which requires far more work than the other.

Either, the game is kept on EAC, we have never run into anyone cheating whilst playing and the game works fine. Or the developers of FACEIT begin supporting the Linux operating system. One of these outcomes seems far more likely than the other.

It is not known how many users currently play BattleBit on Linux, but we do know that Linux has never had the best game support full-stop.

The switch isn’t happening just yet, so rest easy. But it will be happening at some point in the future.
