Call of Duty has taken some extreme steps to try and cut down on the hackers and cheaters in their games, banning a seriously big number in just a single day. The franchise has experienced many upsetting news updates when it comes to hackers. Last week, we got the news that Infinity Ward had to take some Call of Duty MW2 2009 lobbies offline due to hacking, which is where that story still remains.

Wormholes are a more serious issue than regular hacking or cheating, it means there is a series of codes and “strings” inside of the malware, making it a more serious threat and problem than a normal bug. This information came out vis a Stream forum filled with players of MW2, they said they should run an antivirus system which then led to the discovery, and Infinity Ward took the servers down. It seems after so many cases of hacking, Activision is taking extra steps to be sure it stops.

14,000 Call of Duty cheaters were banned within 24 hours

Call of Duty has now been locking down on the hacking and trying to deal with it with what in the ways they can, however it isn’t determined if this is for best or worse. Over on Twitter the Call of Duty updates profile posted a tweet sharing that in the last 24 hours, that 14,000 players have had their accounts ban for cheating and hacking activity in Modern Warfare II and Warzone. This can be seriously helping the games have less hackers but it also makes players wonder if innocent players are now getting ban too.

Even though the developers are trying to help make Call of Duty a safer and more enjoyable place to spend your free time, players are expressing more frustrations with how the report button is often times being abused and ends up getting innocent players banned because they got spammed with reports for no reason. This is something many vented about in the comments, one user than just saying in all caps, “FIX YOUR DAMN GAME.”

Other comments were from players who were expressing concerns about shadowbans happening again, which is where a player can be playing just fine one minute, and the next, their whole screen goes black, and they have gotten banned from the game. Then gamers usually have to email the company and express their issue and try to get it resolved.

For now, there is no news about what will happen next aside from all the users that have been banned from the game. Hopefully, the developers will take more steps to improve the security of the games while not banning innocent players as well, but for now, we don’t know if many innocent players were caught in the crossfire.
