Taiwan Rating Committee Leaks Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, Fuelling Speculation Of An Imminent Announcement

A new Crash Bandicoot game is on the way if a newly-unearthed listing on the leak-prone Taiwan Digital Rating Committee’s website is anything to go by.

According to the listing, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, as it’s been dubbed, is heading to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, suggesting a release isn’t too far off. Activision is publishing the game with American studio Toys For Bob, of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy fame, on development duties.

The listing features the cover art for the game. The titular Crash is seen surfing on what appears to be a warp tunnel surrounded by an array of masks.

There’s also a short description of what players can expect. It reads, ‘Crash is relaxing and exploring his island in his time, 1998, when he finds a mysterious mask hidden away in a cave, Lani-Loli. The mask is one of the Quantum Masks and apparently knows Aku-Aku, Crash’s mask friend! With the Quantum Masks returning and a Quantum Rift appearing near our heroes, they decide to bravely head through to different times and dimensions to stop whoever is responsible.’

The listing appears to line up with the news that Activision has started shipping out 200-piece puzzles to select members of the gaming press. The puzzle comes accompanied by a message signed by none other than ‘Your Favorite Bandicoot.’ that reads ‘a little something to help you pass the TIME.’

Once pieced together, the puzzle reveals a mask that’s identical to one featured in the artwork found on the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee listing. The very same mask was spotted by eagle-eyed fans in a PlayStation 4 ‘It’s Time To Play’ promotional video late last year.

As far as hints go, this one couldn’t be any clearer. Expect an official Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time announcement imminently.
