On October 27, 2021, at 10:30am BST, GAME published a tweet stating that they have been given reports of a fake website pretending to be them. It seems the owners of the website are using the company’s reputation to encourage people to make fake purchases online.

What is the correct website for GAME UK?

While the company have not published the fake domain(s), the only website you should be utilising if you are wishing to purchase from GAME in the UK is, quite simply, www.game.co.uk. Scam sites are growing increasingly sophisticated, though, so if you are following any links to what looks like game.co.uk, check that there are not any very slight changes. Better yet, just type the domain yourself.

What should you do if you think you have entered your details at the fake site?

If you think you have fallen victim to the fake website, GAME are urging you to contact your bank for further advice. GAME themselves will be unable to help you, but they are currently working on getting the scam site taken down. If you are unsure, check any confirmation email you might have to ensure that it is from GAME directly.

Don’t forget, try not to click on any links that don’t look right, and don’t enter or provide your personal information if someone has come to you. It’s always safer to double check you’re in the right place before giving anything away… That way, you’ll protect yourself if anything funny is going on. If you were in the right place all along, no harm done!
