Epic Games hasn’t always allowed Fortnite players to get quick refunds from the Item Shop. Due to this, the company had to pay a $275 million fee to the Federal Trade Commission. Additionally, the gaming publisher has to provide a $245 million refund to players.
The FTC ruling was brought in December 2022, and players are now able to submit their claims. The process can be easily completed through the official channels. Given that a large number of players have been impacted by these Item Shop practices, they will collectively receive a total of $245 million as compensation.

Fortnite refund is massive and can be claimed over the next few months
The Federal Trade Commission did not show leniency towards Epic Games. Considering that many young players were affected by questionable Item Shop practices, it’s unsurprising that the company was fined over half a billion dollars. Due to this ruling, Fortnite players can now apply for a refund.
The FTC posted all the details on its official website. The refund procedure is quite straightforward and uncomplicated, but it must be finalized by January 17, 2024. Additionally, individuals under the age of 18 must have their parents complete the process on their behalf.
The Fortnite refund can be claimed by the following groups:
- Players who were charged V-Bucks for unwanted items from January 2017 to September 2022
- Children who made charges to parents’ credit cards without parents’ knowledge from January 2017 to November 2018
- Players who had their accounts locked due to complaints about wrongful charges between January 2017 and September 2022
Players who meet the criteria and file a claim on fortniterefund.com/File-a-Claim. This is the only website that needs to be used for the process, and players who file a claim will only need to provide their Epic Games IDs, which can be found in their account settings on Epic Games’ website.
