As Genshin Impact continues to expand its Teyvat regions, new mechanics and features will also become available, which includes a jump of sorts. However, along with new mechanics, some have soon learned not all characters can revel in the joys. So, what is this new mechanic that has some players salty? And why can only some characters do this jump in Genshin Impact?
Why can only these Genshin Impact characters do this jump?
With the recent release of a new area, the Hydro region of Fontaine, many players were ecstatic to learn about underwater exploration. While there is no doubt every character can swim beneath the waves, players soon learn only certain characters can do a “dolphin jump.” When playing around with Genshin’s new mechanic, many players who successfully pulled Lynette or Lyney found they could jump out of the water like a dolphin or whale.
As mentioned in a Reddit Post, players soon discovered that only characters who hailed from Fontaine can do this specific jump. Regardless of the character’s element, they can do the dolphin! However, there are expectations, such as the Traveler main character, who can do this jump upon resonating with Hydro.
Though, of course, this has slightly saddened some Genshin Impact players. Specifically, those who main Kokomi, as they believe she should be able to do this jump. Sangonomiya Kokomi is a Hydro playable character and is fashioned to resemble a mermaid. Of course, one Reddit user stated, “I demand our fish waifu gets water exploration bonuses!”
One Twitter user commented, “LET KOKOMI DOLPHIN JUMP OT OF THE WATER.” with light-hearted frustration. However, there’s no doubt you will find other players begging the developers to allow other players this really cool feature. But, it is understanding why players want their “fish waifu” to swim like a fish.
However, for now, this feature will stay safely in the hands of the Fontaine characters and the straggler Traveler. So, if you feel you may be missing out on the dolphin fun and haven’t been able to pull a Fontaine character, at least you have the Traveler!
