As new regions are introduced in Genshin Impact, there are many characters you could confuse for an Archon. Since the release of the latest region, Fontaine, quite a few players still doubt who the real Hydro Archon is in Genshin Impact. However, it has been confirmed multiple times in the Archon Quest and Genshin Impact Special Program.
Of course, this could be due to Furina’s flamboyant personality and Neuvillette’s stern authority. Though confirmed, some players just do not want to accept who the Hydro Archon is.
Why do some players doubt who is the real Hydro Archon in Genshin Impact?
With the release of Fontaine, players will have a chance to complete a new Archon quest; during this quest, they will meet Neuvillette and Furina. Neuvillette is the Chief of Justice and governs over the court. Furina is the Hydro Archon, Focalors, who watches over the trials and is kept in check by Neuvillette. However, because of Neuvillette’s authority, a select few believe he is the true Archon, as mentioned in a Reddit Post.
There are a few reasons why the Redditor stated this. First, “Neuvillette does an excellent job of being a judge.” Players have combated in a few ways. Firstly, plenty of Archons, such as Venti, do not take an active role in governing their region, such as Venti. Another Redditor also mentioned that Archons have a “Head of the State” and the “Leader doesn’t necessarily equate to the nation’s Archon.”
Since the release of the Archon quest, there have been many players who corrected this. Undoubtedly, Furina is the Hydro Archon, and as we’ve seen before, Archon’s can change. Similar to Raiden Ei and her twin sister Makato, who was the previous Electro Archon. As the post mentions, “Furina is still inexperienced,” starkly contrasting with Neuvillette. However, this further emphasizes why Furina needs his assistance to govern. Though she is inexperienced as an Archon, the region still needs a Head to help it run smoothly.
This isn’t the first time we have met an Archon like this, similar to the Dendro Archon Nahida. However, as a Redditor mentioned, “I suppose Focalors isn’t the best at being a god but that is still yet to be found how she improves herself.” So, while Furina is still inexperienced and insecure, as an Archon, she has plenty of room to grow with the assistance of Neuvillette.
