With the game on the cusp of release, you may be wondering exactly how long does it take to beat Stray, BlueTwelve’s feline third-person adventure through a dilapidated cybercity?

We’ve played – and had jolly good time of it – and are reporting back with a solid answer to that very question – how long to beat Stray?

How Long Does it Take to Beat Stray?

For the average player not fussed about achievements or exploring every nook and cranny of the game, Stray should take roughly 5 to 8 hours to beat.

You mileage will vary depending on pace, but should still fall within this estimate. And, of course, this number is likely to balloon depending on how often you channel your inner cat. Scratching, napping, paw, and meowing away an hour comes easy in Stray.

For completionists, Stray should take 10 to 12 hours to beat.

Though the game features a few side quests, collectibles, and puzzles off the beaten story path, it’s a condensed affair. Even obtaining all the trophies, including one that requires our Stray nap for a full real-time hour, won’t push the playtime too much.

Stray has a total of 12 chapters for players to sink their teeth into. Here’s a full, spoiler-free, list of the Stray chapters:

Stray launches for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on July 19th, 2022. And, courtesy of a free trial, Stray will also be free to play on PS Plus for a 7-day period for new subscribers to the service.
