There are multiple knives that you can get your hands on in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. While the starting knife is great, there are two other knives that outclass it in both damage and durability. The Primal Knife is perhaps the best knife in the game and a useful item if you want to complete the knife and handgun only challenge the game presents you with. Of course, a knife this powerful isn’t just handed to you. You need to work for this weapon. Here is how you get the Primal Knife in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
How to unlock the Primal Knife in Resident Evil 4 Remake
If you want the Primal Knife, you will need to beat the game. Just like with other bonus weapons, you need to complete the game while also completing a specific challenge. Luckily, the challenge required for the Primal Knife is one of the easier ones to obtain and only requires you to search the map. Keep your eyes peeled because you need to hunt down all of the game’s collectibles.
Each of the Resident Evil games has a collectible for you to find. In Resident Evil 7, you needed to collect bobbleheads. In the Resident Evil 4 Remake, you need to find and destroy Clockwork Castellans. Theses small statues are hidden very well so make sure to check all of the different areas of the map like cracks, crevices, and even in the rafters of some buildings. There is one Clockwork Castellan in each of the chapters of the game for a total of 16.

Once you have found and destroyed all 16 of these statues, the Primal Knife will be unlocked in the bonus content shop in the main menu. Remember, you need to find all of the Clockwork Castellans in a single playthrough. It doesn’t count in multiple playthroughs. With the knife available, go into the content shop and you can purchase it for 1,000CP. If you don’t have enough CP, simply go back into the game and complete some challenges like finding helping the merchant with all his requests.
