So, what is the Tears of the Kingdom story about? As we mentioned above, there are numerous Zelda timelines. However, there are three major timeline splits. They are The Adult, Child, and Fallen Hero Timeline. About The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, this sequel will take place during the Great Calamity Zelda timeline.
In this era, Ganon, the Breath of the Wild’s main antagonist, brought forth the age of calamity after Princess Zelda’s sealing powers grew weak. During this time, our hero, Link, had been fatally injured and thus requiring him to sleep in the Shrine of Resurrection. Therefore it took one hundred years for Link’s awakening.
In the new Tears of the Kingdom timeline, we can expect to see new weapons and gameplay while the protagonists explore the underground tunnels of the Hyrule Castle.
