What appears to be a CS2 leak has emerged on Twitter, and if true, it looks like we may have just caught a first look at what appears to be some Kukri Knife animations. Now, as always, we’d recommend you take any so-called leak with a pinch of salt, but if this is genuine it could help us solidify the active development process and give us an interesting insight into what is going on behind the scenes in CS2.

Kukri Knife animations for CS2 may have been leaked

A leaker by the name of @ThourCS has leaked a short 56-second video that appears to show some of the Kukri Knife animations that could be present in CS2.

Polishing off the inspect animations for weapons that aren’t normally found in default load-outs could mean that the game itself and most of its base components are already complete. What we’re hoping is that this could indicate that the release of CS2 may be happening soon.

It appears that since the 30th of June, @ThourCS has had a pretty close relationship with Valve, as Valve is seen commenting on their Tweets and thanking him for bug reports he’s submitting. For Thour’s efforts. It could be argued that this date looks is when Valve gave him CS2 access.

This broaches an interesting question, did Valve give ThourCS the new animations to leak? We can’t be sure for certain, however, the idea is certainly not too farfetched, especially since doing this can ‘build hype’ around upcoming releases.

In all likelihood, this leak came from someone on the inside, as it has to be someone with access to the game engine and internal tools. Upon viewing Thour’s Twitter profile, it doesn’t look like he demonstrates any specific proficiencies in animation or 3D modeling. So it could be likely that he did not acquire the information himself.

ThourCS then states that the animations are subject to change before the release of CS2, which sounds like a pretty Valvey thing to say.

Time will tell whether this leak turns out to be true, however, in any case it’s got us even more excited for things to come.
