MSI Reveals GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Z Trio Boasting 16 GBps Memory Speed

MSI has announced an updated version of its GeForce RTX 2080 Ti offering with the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Z Trio. The main difference from the existing Trio X model is a boost to the memory speed, which jumps from 14 GBps to 16 GBps, positioning the new GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Z Trio as one of the prime Turing-based GPUs on the market.

In terms of looks, the refreshed GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Z Trio bears no difference to the existing card and has identical features. The Tri-Forz thermal design with TORX Fan 3.0 fans returns with double ball bearings, efficient heatsink, and Wave-Curved 2 dispersion fan blades. RGB Mystic Light remains as well with the ability to customize colors and LED effects.

As for specifications, we are still looking at 11 GB of DDR6, 4352 CUDA cores, a base clock speed of 1350 MHz, a boost clock speed of 1755 MHz, PCI Express 3.0 x 16, and 352-bit memory interface. The same connectivity returns with three DisplayPort, one HDMI 2.0B, and one USB Type-C.

As above, the only difference for the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Z Trio over the existing GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming X Trio is a jump to 16 GBps for the effective memory clock speed instead of 14 GBps. In theory, that equates to a bandwidth of 704 GBps or a near 15% improvement on the Gaming X Trio. MSI does note that the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Z Trio is only around 5% faster than the Gaming X Trio out of the box.

MSI says the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Z Trio went on sale yesterday, and we expect it to start appearing on the usual PC hardware retail sites in due course. As for pricing, we are looking at around $1,200 to $1,300.
