Call of Duty is a battle royale game that has been largely popular over the years since its first release. The two most recent games are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. These games feature a bunch of different maps and even receive new ones during different seasons of the game; like right now, Warzone is featuring Vondel for Season 4.

However, with Modern Warfare, the game works where a different random map is selected out of an assortment. Sometimes players get frustrated as the game continues choosing the same two maps over and over, which are maps players aren’t interested in.

MW2 players want the map voting system back

As mentioned above, players don’t have any sort of way to pick what map the game selects for Modern Warfare, which has triggered a discussion on Reddit about the possibility of the game adding a voting system and how this would improve it overall.

In the subreddit, a player brings up how they are “fed up of heaving to level 3-4 lobbies every game” because they only receive the Standa Sena and Black Gold map 80% of the time. However, this player isn’t the only one that is tired of it, other players will leave the online lobbies after seeing the map that the game picked. With a lot of people leaving these two maps with them being the least popular, it makes there an abundance of it, only triggered it to be picked more.

The way this player thinks the issue would be best resolved is with a voting system where players are given two different maps and can pick between them. A good example would be GTA Online’s mission-style vote, where players in the lobby are given 6 different choices, one of them including a random option which they also mentioned on this subreddit for Call of Duty.

Not all are on board with this…

However, some players are debating if the voting system idea is actually a good choice, claiming that Modern Warfare doesn’t have any good maps to select to begin with.

This is a little bit of a hot-take within the community, as there are many maps that fans love but just don’t get to see enough of due to the game selecting the unpopular ones. There is no official announcement of if Activision is considering adding a feature like this to the game as of right now.

Final Words

How do you feel about the current map system in Call of Duty? Personally, I think change is good and with a healthy rotation of maps we can see some fun variety in the playlist. However with many players just sticking to their favourites, how diverse can it really get if the system was implemented again? It could seem redundant, in hindsight…
