During Nintendo Direct, a new free to play adventure game, Palia, was revealed. The game was developed by Singularity 6 and seems to include elements from open world RPGs and games from the sim genre

Palia seems akin to games like Stardew Valley and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game looks to offer players an easy to enter open world experience.

Palia looks to offer players a variety in game play

The world of Palia mixes elements of sci-fi and fantasy. A robot companion can be seen in the trailer as well as a talking merchant cat, which isn’t strange for an adventure RPG to do.

Palia includes both single and multiplayer online play with features such as farming, fishing, and home decorating.

In addition, the game seems to feature a main story where players can explore the world around them, unlocking the mysteries and lore of the land.

In the game, humans are a mythical race, having disappeared thousands of years ago at the height of their grandeur and mastery of magic. None of the inhabitants of the world know why. Until one day, humans begin to reappear.

The game does not incentivize multiplayer versus single player or vice versa, nor does the main story featuring exploration seem to be required.

Palia seems to be one of many new games, putting player experience first. Much like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or its sequel Tears of the Kingdom, Palia offers choice.

If a player would find it more enriching to focus on building a house and growing a farm, they can make the game a farm sim. If a player would find it more fun to eliminate enemies and explore ancient ruins, they can make the game an action-adventure RPG.

Despite this, Palia advertises that the player may choose their own coziness, highlighting that anyone may choose what parts of the game they interact with.

The game is set to release Holiday 2023.
